The Fertilizer Industry faces two distinct hazards.  First, fertilizer plants, particularly those manufacturing ammonia are amongst the most complex plants in the chemical industry. The processes involved in the production of ammonia, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid and their conversion to various types of fertilizers involve handling of various hazardous substances and cover a wide range of technologies.

During the manufacturing processes, workers are exposed to the solvents like toluene, methanol, ethanol, carbon tetrachloride, petroleum-ether, methyl alcohol, acetonitrile, actic acid, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid and sulphur dioxide. These solvents are toxic by inhalation and ingestion solvents like petroleum ether, carbon tetrachloride, toluene, methanol, ethanol which are also narcotic agents. The large dose may cause death. These solvents are poisonous by sub-cutaneous and intravenous route and may affect the liver and kidney.

Secondly, a fire at a fertilizer plant is a potential catastrophe. Chemicals used in agricultural fertilizers, are highly explosive compound.

PrestiVac Vacuum Cleaner Systems are specifically designed to safely vacuum and collect the hazardous dusts and liquids in Fertilizer Industry. Here is a list of different applications. Please click on your application so you can see the different models we have available for you:
